Experiencing many years of upskilling graduates through internships within our firm, the same pattern appeared again and again—talented, motivated young people who were completely devoid of any practical know-how in terms of construction knowledge or the technical skills required to develop a project from its initial concepts into practical professional drawings, modelling, and documentation packages to be utilised and realised for the purposes of DA and CC/CDC submissions.
PRATICA has been established to provide students and graduates with the opportunity to participate in an accelerated, fee-based program designed to explore & develop these essential workplace skills. By embedding practical skills in design development, documentation processes, workflow communication, and project delivery into a structured training program, we prepare participants to contribute from their first week in professional practice and enhance their employment prospects.

Paul J. Mazza is a registered design practitioner with over 35 years of experience in Sydney, NSW. Having worked across a range of leading NSW projects, he has overseen hundreds of DA and CC/CDC submissions and trained junior design practitioners throughout their careers.
Acknowledging this consistent gap between academia and graduate capability, particularly in relation to studio and office expectations, became the impetus for developing the PRATICA curriculum through many years of iterative testing with senior students and recent graduates—refining the program until it reflected exactly what NSW practices need from their next hire.
